Azur Skin is a retailer of various skin care products that employs a distributed sales approach. To match their unique business model, they required a unique e-commerce website. Starting with an off-the-shelf solution is often the best course of action for projects like this, so we provided the customer with a license to a popular shopping cart application and then began to heavily modify it to meet the Azur's needs.
Each class of customer needed different levels of access to products, different pricing, and different profile fields. We accomplished this by leveraging many existing tools in the shopping cart software. Using a combination of PHP and the Smarty templating system, we turned the shopping cart into a full membership-management system to support Azur's hierarchal customer structure.
